The airport has undergone major upgrades in recent years. Notably, the Delta Sky Way project has modernized Terminal 3 and connected it to the Bradley Terminal, offering smoother transitions and upgraded amenities. Terminals 4 through 8 are also being refreshed with new lounges, more dining options, and updated security areas. An Automated People Mover system is currently under development and expected to open by 2026, providing easier access between terminals, parking, Metro, and car rental areas.
LAX features four parallel runways that accommodate all aircraft sizes, including large international jets. Despite continued improvements, travelers should expect high passenger volumes and occasional congestion. Most terminals are now connected post-security, allowing easier movement between flights. The airport is well-suited for both domestic and international connections, with continued enhancements aimed at improving efficiency and comfort.
